Imaging Services
HRMC Imaging Services, also known as radiology,
provides state-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities and staff to play
a vital part in your overall treatment process.
Most of our technologists are cross-trained in
more than one modality and many have dual certifications. All are
registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
and are licensed with the State of Florida’s Bureau of Radiation
Control.
They also attend continuing education courses
related to the field of Radiologic Technology in order to maintain
their registry status and licensure and to help them keep pace with
the latest developments.
Services:
General Diagnostic Radiology: consists of a variety of radiologic
examinations that image bony structures, soft tissue and various
internal organs. Our current service scope includes a GE R&F
room and a Siemens Multix-Pro R&T room
Computerized Axial Tomography (CAT or CT Scanning):
utilizes x-ray, but allows the radiologist to see the internal organs
in a cross-sectional view. The CT scanner is a General Electric,
High Speed, fx/I, spiral scanner and can do head-to-toe imaging
in minutes.
Ultrasound: This device uses ultrasonic frequency
waves that pass through the body and painlessly bounce off the internal
organs, producing an image electronically. We utilize the Siemens/Acuson
Sequoia. This is one of the more revolutionary pieces of equipment
available today for ultrasound.
Mammography: We are accredited by the American
College of Radiology (ACR). This requires us to have a certified
mammographer on site. Mammography uses low-dose x-rays to image
the breast tissue for nodules, cysts, or calcifications. We are
currently using a Bennet Contour mammography unit.
Nuclear Medicine: requires the injection of a
Radiopharmaceutical into the bloodstream. A specialized camera then
detects the accumulation of the radioactive material in the various
organs or bone, and creates an image. For this we are using a GE
Nuclear Medicine camera.
We perform approximately 18,000 procedures per
year and all images are read by board-certified radiologists with
many years of experience.
Contact us by calling Ed Chiarelli, director,
at 863.902.3061 for more information.
